Attendance

Attendance Matters Attendance is critical to your child's achievement and success. Truancy has a negative impact on all aspects of middle school life. D. S. Parrott Middle School will adhere to the truancy policies and procedures established by our district which can be found in the code of conduct.

To pick your child up through the front office, please arrive no later than 3:30 p.m. with a photo ID.  For the safety of your child, we will not release your child to anyone that is not on your emergency pick up card.

Please note the following information about attendance and participation in extracurricular activities.

Students must attend for the full day in order to participate in sports, fine arts, or attend extracurricular activities such as athletics, performances, field trips, dances or any other school activity. All students must maintain a 90% attendance rate in all class periods. Excused absences will not be factored into the 90%. When absent, each student is also obligated to complete all work assigned in each course in which the student is enrolled.

Parents/Guardians can excuse up to five (5) days per semester by providing a written and signed note(s).  This also includes prearranged absences.  For more than (5) days of excused absences in any one class period, a doctor’s note maybe required.  Extenuating circumstances may be addressed with administration. Prearranged excused absences will not be approved during district and statewide assessments.

If you have any questions about our attendance policies, please call 352.797.7075 ext. 408 or ask for Lisa Busacca.
